My Daily Routine at Home

Hey guys, I hope you’re all staying well and keeping positive during this strange time!

I know that many of us have been through a lot of change recently – a change of work setting, having to work from home, even a change in living dynamics. I’ve also noticed on social media that a few people have been struggling to adapt to this change of routine. So today, I’m going to share with you my daily routine which I have recently adapted to since all this change, and I hope it can offer some inspiration/ideas for you!

My Daily Routine:

Wake up: I usually set my alarm for 8:30am on weekdays. Setting my alarm for the same time each day really improves my sleep cycle and is a great way to keep your daily routine consistent. I’ll then drink a few cups of water and have a piece of fruit (I eat lightly at this time because I go for runs every morning).

Exercise: Since being restricted to home, I’ve really tried to utilise this time to practice self-care and aim to be healthier. So, every morning, I’ve been going on runs alone which are doing me the world of good. Inhaling the fresh air each morning whilst being surrounded by empty greens feels so invigorating and is also a great way to leave the house. I would definitely recommend a morning exercise to anybody, and if running isn’t for you, you could try a hit workout, normal workout or even yoga! They have so many tutorials to follow on YouTube, so definitely try that out. It really puts my head in a good space, preparing it for the day, especially when our days are now spent indoors.

Getting ready for the day: I’ll then shower and get ready for the day! I’m making the most of working from home, so I usually slip on a pair of comfy joggers with a cosy top – being comfy is key for me! I’ll then make myself a cup of tea (mint green is so good in the morning) and crack on with University work! Remember to drink lots of water throughout the day to stay hydrated!

Lunch: I’ll have lunch usually between 12-1pm depending on the day and how I am feeling! Eating healthy can really boost your mood, which is especially important during times like this, so I’m trying to be keep a balanced diet.

Back to work: After lunch, I’ll then usually work some more until 4pm. I understand that if you have a full-time job that you will finish later than that! Everyone’s routines will differ slightly!

In the evening: By the evening, I will switch off my laptop so that I’m not tempted to look/finish anymore work! It’s important to be able to switch off after a day of hard work! I’ll then have dinner.

Self-care: I preach about self-care so often because it’s so important to me! I try to implement a dose of self-care every single day, and find it particularly therapeutic to do so before bedtime. Whether it’s reading a book with a peppermint tea, painting my nails, running a warm bath, having a pamper session, watching a favourite film or a 10-minute meditation, I make sure I do at least one of these every night-time before I sleep. It allows me to have a calmer head space and helps me wind down for bed.

Goodnight: I usually aim to fall asleep at the same time each night to again regulate my sleep cycle and keep a consistent routine. I also still regularly use lavender oil before I sleep, as it really relaxes my mind and helps me drift off. I also recommend doing night time meditations (The Honest Guys on Spotify and YouTube are really good!)

So, that’s the routine I’ve adjusted to since being at home! I hope it helps you and gives you some ideas! I find that having a structured routine really helps both my motivation and my productivity when working at home.

I hope you are all staying positive and safe, and remember that we are all in this together!

Ways to Keep Yourself Entertained At Home

Hey guys, how are you today?

I guess we can’t ignore the circumstances around us – it’s inevitably there. A sudden change in routine has occurred for many of us – remaining indoors, working from home and maybe feeling a little apprehensive and worried. For many of us, having to stay within the walls of our home can be a struggle, especially during the weekends when there’s no work to do. However, during an unfamiliar time like this, it is important to focus on the positives rather than the negatives!

Today, being the home-bird I am, I’m going to share a few things which you can do to fill your days spent at home. Staying proactive not only keeps you entertained, but is really good for your mental wellbeing (which is so important during a time like this!)

  1. Wardrobe clear out
I’ve started to this already! Since being at home, I’ve had the chance to finally clear out my room and sort my clothes out – it’s so satisfying, and it helps pass the time (as well as being productive!) I feel so cleansed and organised from it!
  2. Morning workout/yoga
As for the foreseeable future, most of our time will be spent indoors, so I would most definitely recommend doing some exercise! Recently, I’ve been implementing home workouts into my routine and this morning I went for a run. You could even try yoga – any form of exercise is so invigorating and healthy for both the mind and body. There are so many tutorials on YouTube so definitely try them out. Also, establishing a new routine is a really good way of adjusting to change and improving our wellbeing.
  3. Read a book
A cup of tea and a good book, curled under a soft blanket. Diving into a world of imagination, the story unfolds as you turn each page. Escaping reality by immersing yourself into a book is a really great way to stay entertained, and it also helps the mind unwind if you read before bed.
  4. Be creative
Have you ever thought about creating something? Ever wanted to write a book, poem or practice your artwork? Release and challenge your creative energy into a project you’ve always thought about doing! This is great if you are wanting to spend time away from your phone and social media.
  5. Stay connected
A FaceTime or phone call is only a click away! Stay connected by keeping in touch with family and friends!

Remember to stay positive, guys! Remember that we are in control of our attitudes and mindsets, and remember that positivity breeds positivity! I hope these suggestions have helped and I hope you have enjoyed reading!

Thanks so much for your support, and please subscribe to join the family! Keep smiling.

Lots of love,
