The New Year

Hey guys,

How is everyone? Did you all have a lovely Christmas? I am aware I haven’t written in some time – I’ve been super busy with family events and Christmas celebrations. It’s been a joyful month filled with bubbly prosecco and endless laughter with family and friends.

Now…the gap between Christmas and New Year. What’s that all about? Many of us feel sad as the exciting build-up of festive joys comes to end and we wave our family and friends goodbye until next time. It can feel quite lonely – a really lovely time of year has ended and we aren’t quite sure how to fill the current days before the New Year.

I’ve come to realise that being excited for the New Year and treating it as a new opportunity is such a good way to think positively about the future and reduce the festive-blues. Life has provided us with a brand new, clean slate which will be filled with excitement, new memories and opportunities.

It sounds cliché, I know. But leave the bad in the past and bring the good things in your life into 2020. The past is in the past now – and this is your chance to keep it that way! Believe that this year will be a great new chapter in your life.

Each year is like a diary. You open the first page of many – all unwritten, blank and untouched. Each page is an opportunity to create and personalise new memories which can be treasured forever. Positive thoughts breed and attract positivity. Make this year your year because you deserve it!

I hope you’ve enjoyed this post. I know it’s brief but there’s plenty more to come in the New Year! Happy New Year everyone, have a good one.

Lots of love,

The Season To Give

Hello lovely people,

How are you all today? Sorry that I haven’t posted in a while – I’ve been super busy celebrating birthdays and sorting out Christmas checklists! As mid-December has finally arrived, it’s safe to say we certainly are in the midst of the festive season! We are seeing more colourful sparkling lights dress our streets as adorned Christmas trees dazzle the windows of family homes.

Not only is this a time of year full of love and festivity, but it’s also a wonderful time to give. Today I want to suggest some idea’s

  1. Donate/give to charity
    – although this time of year is wonderful for many of us, we can’t forget about those who may struggle. For many people, this time of year can be lonely and sad. Donating a gift or some money to those who are less fortunate not only builds a sense of community and love but will also brighten someone else’s day.
  2. Send out Christmas cards
    – sending Christmas cards and greetings is the perfect way to make others happy and let people know you are thinking of them during the festive season. I’ve found that sending e-cards is not only fun and efficient, but it also helps save the planet as it all can be done digitally, without paper. I recommend using ‘Paperless Post’ – they provide an endless array of different designs for cards, invitations and greetings (with a choice to customize your own) for all occasions! It’s such a perfect way to connect with people, especially during such a wonderful, festive time of year. If you fancy creating an e-card and sending a Christmas card (or any other) to send to someone you love, click on this link: https://www.paperlesspost.com
  3. Treat your neighbours to some festive goods
This reminds me of my childhood. When I was younger, I was constantly immersing myself in the kitchen, baking all sorts of cookies, gingerbread and cakes. I then neatly presented them onto a plate and gave them to my neighbours! It’s a great way of giving during this time of year, and it’s also cheap if you are on a budget!

There’s a few suggestions of mine of how to give this Christmas! It feels so rewarding being able to give to others and make someone else smile.

Getting in the Festive Spirit

Hey guys! What’s everybody been up to?

Today’s post will be slightly different, however, I thought now that it’s December time, it’s absolutely necessary! As the dark nights draw in, the cosy fires illuminate our homes with orange glow, and fairy lights intricately embellish Christmas trees, displayed in our windows. Layers of frost coat the ground like perfectly rolled icing as decorated wreaths hang on our front doors. The Christmas spirit is dancing around us, so I thought I would focus today’s post on things to do during the festive season!

  1. Watch a Christmas Film
Put on your favourite film or find something on the TV guide. Make yourself a warming hot chocolate and enjoy the movie! I absolutely love ‘The Grinch’ – it’s a classic festive film!
  2. Buy a Christmas jumper/pyjamas
I don’t know about you, but I love treating myself to a Christmassy item of clothing! So many clothing brands sell festive jumpers and pyjamas. They’re super cosy and help you indulge right into the festive spirit!
  3. Get creative with your wrapping
Once I’ve bought all my gifts for friends and family, I love choosing different wrapper papers and ribbons! Paperchase do lovely wrapping paper, but if you’re also on a budget, ‘The Range’ supply plenty of gift-wrapping choices. I’ve found that finding wrapping paper you love makes the gift-wrapping process so much more exciting and enjoyable.
  4. Baking/Cooking
I absolutely love baking this time of year. Nothing beats filling the kitchen with the scent gingerbread and mulled wine with some Christmas music playing in the background.
  5. Go on a Winter walk
Wrap up warm and go on a winter walk with a loved one. Embrace the festive air and grab a hot drink on the way!

So there are a few festive tips to get you in the spirit! I hope you all have a lovely rest of your day, and don’t forget to subscribe if you want to see more content!

Doing Something You Love

Hey guys! How is everyone today?

Look at this gingerbread house I made yesterday! It took four hours of dedication and creativity, but it was so worth it and was so much fun! (the penguin-looking snowmen were not intentional).

Christmas song lyrics joyfully filled the room as the adorned gingerbread house came together. The crushed hard-boiled sweets melted in the oven to create the stain-glass window as the smell of freshly baked gingerbread suffused the kitchen. Piping the pieces so precisely, a frosty image of fallen snow was created, with wispy icicles that hung delicately from the roof. Bursts of colour populated the the gingerbread to what eventually became a candy house.

Today I want to talk about being kind to yourself by doing something you enjoy/love. As Christmas approaches, it’s a time where our minds are often busy thinking about other people, so we often forget to ‘check in’ with ourselves. I’ve felt myself feeling rather stressed and overwhelmed with work and deadlines recently, and after speaking to my friends, they feel just the same.

So, I decided to take an afternoon off to do something I loved. I met up with a friend and together we decided to design and make our own gingerbread house. It was the perfect way to mentally unwind as well as implement some Christmas spirit into the day! I left my phone in my room as we preceded with our handiwork in the kitchen. With undivided attention, it was so therapeutic to completely engage in an activity that I loved with no distractions. No buzzes, no worries about work – just some essential, quality time to recharge and relax.

It’s so good for our wellbeing to reward yourself with some time off by doing something you enjoy. After reading this post, take some time this week to do something you love. Whether it’s baking, cooking, painting, going for a walk, going to the gym, walking your dog, reading, doing a sport or drawing. Utilise this time to switch off from your busy schedules and absorb in an activity which will bring you happiness. You deserve it!

I hope you’ve enjoyed today’s post! Let me know what activity you’re going to do this week and I hope you have a lovely rest of your day.

Don’t Regret the Past

Hey guys!

Have any of you been to the Christmas markets yet? I went last weekend – indulging in the festive atmosphere was so heartening. As fairy lights glistened, glitter baubles decorated the mini stalls and the queue for chocolate crepes was everlasting. Children were gleaming at the standing Santa Claus statues as adults shared laughter, sipping on warm mulled wine.

Today, I want to share a quick message with you, focussing on mental attitudes towards negative past experiences. Becoming consumed with upsetting past events is common, especially if they have significantly affected our wellbeing. However, over the years, I have learnt that focussing on a negative past event and regretting it doesn’t resolve any negative mentality. This led me to think ‘Why am I getting so worked up about something in the past when I’m now in the present?’

Through conscious effort (although I am no expert), I have tried to change my mental attitude towards negative past experiences. Although having these bad past experiences are unpleasant, I learnt that it is up to you in the present to help how it makes you feel now. Rather than looking back with regret, I ask myself what positive things I learnt from these past events, or what positive outcomes came from it. Whether it taught me to stand up for myself, brought me closer to loved ones or meant someone toxic was removed out of my life – a positive outcome came from it. I’ve found that occupying this mindset has allowed me to forgive the past, rather than dwelling on it with regret which overall leads to a happier frame of mind!

Christmas Gift Inspiration

Hello guys! How are you all?

It’s that time of year. The sparkling lights are up, Christmas tree’s cover shop windows and the smell of gingerbread latte’s suffuse cafés – the festive air is certainly approaching us! Todays post is a little different, but considering December 1st is approaching and Christmas shopping is on my to-do list, I thought it was the perfect time to suggest some Christmas present idea’s for friends and family.

Just a side note – when buying Christmas presents for others, it really helps me to write a list. I can then tick off each person once I’ve completed sorting their presents and it makes me feel a lot more organised!

If you are struggling for idea’s, I found that a lovely touch to a Christmas gift is sentimentality. Personalising or handmaking a gift adds a memorable, warming touch to give anyone on Christmas day. One year, I got my Nana a personalised calendar for the year. Each month was personalised and decorated with photographs of the family, and it was so nice to add that sentimental value to it. I ordered it on ‘Snapfish,’ which is a great website for personal gifts. They also sell mugs, keyrings, canvases and photo frames – so go and check them out. They make lovely Christmas gifts and it’s perfect if you are on a budget because they usually have amazing discounts!

Another great online store for sentimental gifts is ‘Not on the High Street.’ It’s packed with uniquely designed items with many options to personalise different gifts. I once bought my other Nana (who loves a glass of a wine) a personalised wine glass with her name on it, in which she loved! They also do really lovely jewellery, designed so beautifully and intricately. They sell a whole range of presents for men and women so I would definitely recommend!

So yeah, they’re just a few of my go-to websites for Christmas presents so I thought I’d share them with you!

I know it’s a little different, but I hope you enjoyed today’s post. If you have any other ideas for Christmas presents, please let me know!
